Life story
" Julia Louise (Rawlett) Gordon passed away peacefully at her home in Locust Grove, Virginia on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of seventy-seven after a four-year journey with Lewy Body Dementia.
Louise, as she was known to family and friends, was born in October of 1947 the only child of Julian and Katherine Rawlett. Louise grew up in West Springfield, Virginia and competed in beauty pageants as a young girl.
Louise raised her family in Alexandria and later Stafford, Virginia, while working at Giant Food, for 30 years, where she met her dear friends Jim and Mary Rose. Upon her retirement from Giant Food Louise pursued her passion for floral arranging and crafting. She and her husband Tony Lee Gordon started a business L & T Creations with a booth at the Virginia Bazaar in Ladysmith. Together they made beautiful floral saddles to sit atop headstones and crafted wooden trash cans and end tables.
When the Virginia Bazaar closed Louise became a school bus driver for Orange County Virginia Public Schools. She loved transporting children to Locust Grove Elementary and Locust Grove Middle School, and the children loved Miss Louise. She retired from driving in 2020.
Louise enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, listening to country music, doing crossword puzzles, bowling and playing pool as well as travelling with her husband, Tony of 29 years. She especially enjoyed taking a picnic lunch to sit by the Rappahannock River while enjoying the view with her husband.
She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed watching College and Little League Baseball. She enjoyed spending the holidays with her family and sharing her family tradition of making Puffs for Christmas and making gifts of pickled eggs for her children.
Her sweet smile and playful nature will be missed by many.
Louise is survived by her husband, and dedicated caregiver Tony Lee Gordon, daughter, Pamela Lynn Beer (Mark Bussard) of Culpeper, Virginia, son Thomas Eugene Miller (Eva) of Owings, Maryland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Steven Beer (Victoria), Brian Marcello, Carmen Ott, Cory Miller, and great grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear friends including Kenny "Monk" and Glenda Selvage.
