Life story
"James Edward Lyall, a loving husband, father, son, and grandfather, passed away on September 8, 2025, at the age of 53. Born in Nashville, TN, on September 22, 1971, James was a master prankster who was always ready to make people laugh and smile. He always said, "it’s not goodbye, it's see you later," and he wouldn’t want anyone to cry for him. His love for wrestling, bowling, and music was only surpassed by the love he had for his family. He was a man who spoke his mind but was fiercely protective of his wife, children, and his mom, and would have given you the shirt off his back.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Mary; his children, Ashley, Robert, David, James, and Cheyenne; and two granddaughters. He is also survived by his grandparents James and Shirley VanEss, parents William and Linda Grove, and siblings Nanette, Jennifer, Randy, and Freedom, as well as their families, as well as all his uncles, aunts, cousins, and all his adopted kids. He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan and his Uncle Roger.
A memorial service will be held at Liberty Community Church in Bealeton, VA, on September 20, 2025, at 3 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the GoFundMe set up to assist with cremation costs."
