Life story

" Pamela Sue Swanton, born June 6th 1972, was called into the arms of her father on August 3rd, 2025 who preceded her to his own rest. Pamela was born in Newport News, VA, to George and Lynn Swanton, and spent much of her young life getting to experience a myriad of different places thanks to her father’s military career. Eventually as she settled into adulthood, she found herself working as a nurse, tending to those when they needed it. If not for medical issues that began to slowly arise, it would have been a life long career for her. She had loved the medical field with every fiber of her being.

Pamela became a loving mother to three children, all of which survive her in her passing. In 1994 she gave birth to her first daughter, Jaclynn Mothershead (now Jaclynn Eden). In 2001, she and her husband at the time (Mark Mothershead; life ultimately took the duo down different paths) traveled to Russia to adopt her son, Andrew Mothershead (Born February 9th, 2000). Then, in 2005 on April 27th, Pamela welcomed her third and final child into the fold, Samantha Mothershead. Her love for her family swelled even more with the welcoming of her grandchildren Maximus Mendoza (December 23rd, 2018) and Alice Eden (July 5th, 2024) both of whom also survive her.

While her father George Swanton was called home before her on September 19th, 2016, she is survived by her mother Lynn Swanton. Pamela had two loving brothers, John and Steve, of whom she’d at times regale her children of childhood stories. John Swanton and his wife Kristin Swanton, as well as their two children Kaitlyn Swanton and Matthew Swanton survive her. Steve Swanton and his wife Sharon Swanton as well as their three children Jessalynn Swanton, Adam Swanton, and Cody Swanton all survive her.

While her health issues limited her ability and desire to venture out in the later years of her life, Pamela made it a point to ensure she consistently checked in on her family as they all grew up and began walking their own paths in life. It was evident to everyone who knew her how much she loved them, her excitement palpable especially when talking with any of her children or grandchildren. Words cannot properly illustrate just how deeply she herself was loved and how much she will be missed. "

"Pam was my first love and my best friend over the last year. Pam loved her grandkids, parents, kids and brother. During this past year I was honored to of spent quality time with my old friend and assist her in a time of need. She knew me better than anyone in this world. We prayed together, laughed together and dreamed together!! I know she's roller skating now, dancing and happy!! I'm so sad I missed our last goodbye and hug! You were my best friend and there will never be another like you! God bless you kid!! ”
