Life story

"Anthony (Buster) Duyane Whitehead, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on September 25, 1942, in Pocomoke, Maryland, Buster lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.

Buster was the son of Tennis and Severn Whitehead and was preceded in death not only by his parents but also by his beloved son Kenny Wayne, his granddaughter Chasitie, and sisters Thelma, Marion, Majorie, Ethel (affectionately known as Sis), Ruby, and his brothers, Jr ( aka severn jr). Buddy(aka Carlton). His legacy continues through his loving girlfriend of 50 years, Shirley, who was his partner and confidante through the joys and challenges of life. Together, they created beautiful memories and shared a deep bond that lasted a lifetime.

He is survived by his beautiful sister Audrey Williams and devoted daughter, Tina, her husband Donald Manley Sr who carried forward his spirit of kindness and resilience. His other daughters were Karen Whitehead and Sherry Barron. Buster was a proud grandfather to Brandon Truitt his wife Jamie, Brittney Hall, Anthony (Tony) Tarr his wife Christina, Cody Tarr, and Brianna Tarr, who brought immense joy to his life. Along with Caci Jo and Justin Barron. He was also a doting great-grandfather to Gabriel Selby, Leanna Tarr, McKenzie Abner, Jax, Abby, Wyatt and Shania Truitt , Levi, and Laverick Tarr, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Buster served briefly in the National Guard and later pursued a career as a truck driver, a profession that fueled his passion for the open road and adventure. His love for driving was matched only by his enthusiasm for tinkering with things—whether it was fixing a broken appliance or restoring an old piece of furniture, he had a unique ability to bring things back to life. He loved spending his spare time fishing and spending time with Tina, Donald and grandchildren.

In addition to his many interests, Buster was known for his caring spirit and willingness to lend a hand. He often spent his time helping those in need, cutting grass for neighbors who could not manage it themselves. His selflessness and dedication to his community were a true reflection of his character.

A dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Buster had a knack for making others smile. He would often giggle when people told him he resembled a younger version of Elvis, and he had an infectious laugh that filled any room. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Buster's life will be celebrated privately, honoring his wishes for a simple farewell surrounded by those who loved him most. As we remember Buster, let us carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and the joy of life—values that he so deeply cherished.

In the hearts of his family and friends, Anthony (Buster) Duyane Whitehead will forever remain a guiding light, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he touched throughout his remarkable life."
