Life story
" Joseph John Jankowski, Jr., 77, of Culpeper, passed away May 26, 2025, at his residence. He was
born July 13, 1947 to the late Joseph John Jankowski, Sr. and Irene Molnar Jankowski in Toledo,
OH.
Joe was a strong and caring man of God. He attended Mountain View Community Church of
Culpeper. His wish was for his family and friends to know God’s grace and to accept Him as
Savoir. Joe received his Bachelors degree from John Carroll University. He continued his
education to The University of Toledo for his law degree and then to Washington University in
St. Louis, MO for his Masters of Law. Joe served in the US Army as 1st Lt during the Vietnam
War.
Joe loved coaching youth teams in Dublin and Centerville, OH. He enjoyed fishing and loved
playing tennis. He took great joy in his grandchildren’s activities. Joe was a guitar enthusiast and
loved sharing his music with family and friends. He also wrote and published two novels. He
was a city council member in Dublin, OH for four years
Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sherry Freese Jankowski; sons, Joseph “Brad” Jankowski
and wife, Lindsay of Orange, VA, and Kurt Jankowski of Linden, VA; grandchildren, Hunter
Jankowski of Front Royal, Brooke, Paige, Bailee, and Kendyl Jankowski all of Linden, VA,
Remington and Barrett Jankowski of Orange, VA; and a host of extended friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his sister, Joann Jankowski.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Culpeper National
Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Mark Jenkins officiating.
Honors will be rendered by VFW Post 2524.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 7202
Glen Forest Dr, Ste, 102, Richmond, VA 23226 in honor of his grandson, Barrett, or to Mission
22.com, a program for Veterans and their families.
