"Julia Lazare, 87, passed away at her daughter’s home in Galveston, Texas on May 19th, 2025 surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Julia was born April 14, 1938, to Willie and Betty Mae Auzenne in Opelousas, La. Julia attended Bayou Ridge High School where she met her husband Marshall before graduating in 1957. Julia and her husband moved to Galveston, Tx in 1964.

Julia was a pillar in her community working for Galveston independent school district for 35 years as a food service supervisor. Julia would also donate food items to “Our daily bread” in Galveston once a month.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband Marshall Lazare; sons, Ricky and Michael Lazare; grandson, Felix Fonteno; great grandson, Derrick Phillips Jr; her parents, aunts, and uncles.

Julia will forever live in the hearts of sons, Cecil and George Lazare; daughter, Diane Thompson Lazare; Grandchildren Rickey, Tyree, Ricky Jr, James, Trayzeal, Kemie, De’Aundre, Dytrell, Qasim, Khalil, Rudy, Paul, Rekeshia, Rickate, and Paul; Host of other family and friends. "
