Life story
"It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Danson, age 89, on April 12, 2025. She was born in Rochester, Minnesota, April 9, 1936, to parents Francis and Lucille Christopherson.
Irene is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, William Danson; her children, Nancy Ross, Howard Danson and Cindy Colligan (husband Tim Colligan); her grandchildren, Karen Killgore, Christopher Rogers, Matthew Rogers, Alexander Rogers, Bradley Danson, and Eric Danson; and her great-granddaughters, Margaret Rogers and Emily Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Lucille Christopherson; her sister, Ruth Gray and her brother, Paul Christopherson.
Irene lived a full and vibrant life, defined by compassion, curiosity, and a deep sense of purpose. A lifelong traveler, she found joy in discovering new places and cultures, always eager to learn and connect with others across the globe. Her journeys often had a higher calling—volunteering with medical mission groups, where she offered comfort, care, and a steady hand to those in need. Her work left an enduring impact on countless lives.
When she wasn’t traveling or volunteering, Irene found joy in her favorite hobby: sewing. Her hands, always busy, created countless quilts, garments, and keepsakes for family and friends—each one stitched with love and care.
Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the family she loved, and the values she instilled.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the The National Scoliosis Foundation.
