Life story

"Walter was the second son and alongside of his older brother John, was raised in a Southern Baptist household. He attended elementary and high school in Sunflower County. After graduating he married Rose Williams of Evanston Illinois. Walter enlisted in the United States Army. His service took him to several countries, including Ireland, Norway, Scotland, England, and the longest tour of duty in Nuremberg Germany. After 12 years of dedicated service, Walter retired from the military. In 1976, Walter worked for the United States Post Office, while attending Los Angeles City College. After many years in California,Walter relocated to Chicago Illinois and later making Evanston Illinois his home. In October 2001, Walter embraced the belief in the oneness of GOD and joined the Baha’a faith,where he became a devout and faithful servant. He worked tirelessly as a volunteer, youth mentor,and organizer. He was a well known elder at the temple and highly respected for his service. Walter was preceded in death by his mother Ida Bell Brown, his father John Williams Sr. and brother John Williams Jr. He is survived by A host of nieces ,nephews and cousins.(especially Julia) and friends. Fondly known as Mr. Service ( at his place of worship) Walter will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. "
