Life story
" Virginia Marie Frye, lovingly known as “GG”, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, in Warrenton, Virginia, at the age of 94. A woman of strength, grace, and deep love, GG's legacy is one of unwavering devotion to family, a passion for nature, and a heart as big as the sky.
Born on May 1, 1930, Virginia found joy in life’s simplest pleasures—flowers in bloom, birdsong in the trees, and the gentle rustle of wildlife outside her window. But more than anything, she cherished her family, who were her proudest accomplishment and deepest source of love.
Virginia was the devoted sister to Lutie (Clark) and loving mother of seven children: Linda, Connie, Rodney, Tisha, Pat, Michael, and Chris. She was preceded in death by her sons Rodney, Pat, and Mike, and spent many years fighting tirelessly to find her son Chris, who remains missing. She also mourned the loss of her beloved husband Bob, three cherished sons-in-law—David, Larry, and Roy and a grandson, Robbie.
Her love multiplied through generations: she was a beloved Aunt to Rusty, Cheryl, and Donna, and Great-Aunt to many. She was the proud grandmother of 12—Brandy, Wendy, Rhonda, Ruth Marie, Shana, Steph (Clay), Melissa, Robbie, Terry, CJ, Mikie, and Chrissy. She was affectionately known as “GG” to her 21 Great-Grandchildren—Danielle, Toni, Corey, Jordan, Eddie, Quentin, Bubbie, Wyatt, Maddie, Michael, JD, Junior, Nevaeh, Joseph, Preston, Jerry, Emma, Jack, Conner, Nova, and another Corey—and to one GG Great-Grandchild, Tyler.
GG lived a life of quiet resilience, humor, compassion, and fierce loyalty to those she loved. Whether feeding the birds outside her kitchen window or feeding the deer, she found wonder and meaning in every moment. She taught us to appreciate the beauty around us and reminded us, daily, of the importance of family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM (or longer) at the Warrenton Moose Lodge. A graveside burial will follow on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 12 PM at National Memorial Park/King David Memorial Gardens at 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia.
GG’s legacy will live on in the hearts and stories of the many she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. "
