Life story
" Mark Alan Wells
October 7, 1956 – February 23, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Alan Wells, a devoted father, husband, and cherished friend.
Mark graduated from Southern Illinois University with a business degree. For over 30 years, he dedicated himself to serving the Federal Government as a Budget Analyst for the USDA.
Mark served in the Peace Corps in the 1980’s in the Dominican Republic. Outside of work, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures—driving his convertible to the lake on summer days, listening to blues, jazz, and Latin music, camping, gardening and spending cherished time with his children, grandchildren and pets.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Wells, and his sister, Karen Sharp. He is survived by his loving mother, Louise Wells; his sister, Gloria Schmitz; his devoted wife, Teresa; his sons, Aaron Wells (Nate) and Liam Wells (Jasmine); and his adored grandchildren, Olivia and Ryan Wells. He also leaves behind a wide extended family, including nieces Kim Sharp (Billy) and Brandy Fraley (Clint), nephews Darrell Sharp, Jeff Sharp (Melissa), and Eric Sharp, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
Mark’s legacy is one of warmth, kindness, and laughter. He was a caring and gentle soul and will be missed.
There will be a private family celebration of Mark’s life.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
