Life story

" It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Virginia Poe Young, who departed this life on February 12th, 2025, a week before her 81st birthday. She was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, incredible strength, and unwavering love.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Maurice Poe, and her siblings, Ellen and Maurice Jr.

Though soft in demeanor, Alice had a core of steel, as she persevered through many hardships while never losing her ability to find amusement and happiness in the good times. She has left us all a lasting legacy of love and loyalty.

Alice is survived by her son, Patrick Young, daughter Stephanie Young, grandaughters Olivia Vannoy and Amber Irwin, great-grandsons Grayson, Lincoln, and Braxton Vannoy, brother Lane Poe, nieces Patricia Killeen, Elle Poe, and Wendy Poe, and nephew Luther Burnside. She will be dearly missed but will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.

A private celebration of Alice’s life will be held for her family.

Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering strength will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace. "
