Life story
" Oscar Perez was born on July 5, 1941, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, to Jose Domingo and Olivia Perez. In 1964, he arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he built a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication. Oscar worked for The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (better known as A&P) as a forklift technician in their food distribution center, a role he held with pride until his retirement in 2005.
Oscar was a kindhearted man with a warm smile and a great sense of humor. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—gardening, watching football and soccer on weekends, and listening to his favorite artist, Frank Sinatra. He had a particular fondness for Po' boy sandwiches, a taste he acquired during his years in New Orleans.
Oscar leaves behind his loving wife, Rosalina Perez; his sisters, Martha Lidia Perez de Cifuentes; Mayra Perez, Patricia Perez, his children, Oscar G. Perez Jr. (Alexis M. Perez), Patricia Barahona Perez (wife of the late Oscar Edmundo Perez), Juan Carlos Paredes, Jahaira Dacosta (Marcio Dacosta), Victor Guardado, and Luis Guardado; and his grandchildren, Alejandro Daniel Perez, Fernando Andrés Perez, Elliana Grace Perez, Corynn Baylee Perez, and Marcio Dacosta.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Alba Miriam Perez; his son, Oscar Edmundo Perez; and his siblings, Edgar Anibal Perez and Marco Tulio Perez.
Oscar was a man deeply loved by all who knew him—a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a guiding light in the lives of his family. His kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched everyone around him. Though he may be gone, his memory will live on in our hearts forever. We will never forget the legacy of love and warmth he left behind.
