Life story

" James Tiches (Jimmy) of Stuart, Fl and Colonial Beach, VA passed away Jan 25, 2025; he was 93 years old. Jimmy spent his early years in Washington, DC serving several years in the Army. He then joined the US Postal Service, in Falls Church, VA. After working as a mail carrier, Jimmy was hired to work at the Library of Congress under the Architect of the Capitol, in which he enjoyed a long career. In 1968, Jimmy opened a restaurant in Washington, DC located on Capitol Hill, which is still in operation today.

Jimmy was a member of the Merrifield Virginia Lions Club for many years and enjoyed helping others through the organization. Once retired, Jimmy found a love for square dancing and became a caller. Loving Florida the way he did, Jimmy would travel between Virginia and Florida in his cherished convertible! While in Virginia, he would visit with his Grandchildren, make a sandy beach area for them and fix them cinnamon toast for breakfast. Jimmy enjoyed sitting on the porch looking at the water and spending time gardening. Later in life he enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and NCIS, as well as business channels and, remained King of the remote while enjoying his shows and family, relaxing in his heated recliner and PJs! We are so blessed and grateful to have had such a wonderful man as our Father, who always strived to make our lives better. Jimmy's marriage ended in divorce. He leaves a Daughter and Son-In-Law, who was like a Son to him; a Son and his Spouse. He is also survived by four grandchildren and predeceased by a grandson. We wish to thank his loving caregiver, whom he adored and who was with us at the end.
