Life story

"Donald (Don) Henry Dornisch, 87, of Gainesville, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held in January 2025.
Don was a devoted husband and father. He ran his own commercial plumbing business for over five decades. Even after he retired in his early 80s, he would tackle small plumbing tasks for his neighbors in Gainesville, VA. In his early 20s, Don was an amateur body builder; loved playing basketball, and riding motorcycles. Don was an avid golfer for over four decades playing golf all over the East Coast. His greatest golf adventure though was on the West Coast when he played the renowned Pebble Beach Golf Links, the Links at Spanish Bay and Spyglass Hill courses in California with his daughter. Don had a life long love of music. He loved playing the piano and listening to everything from Motown to the Piano classics. Don also proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for two years.

Don was born in Washington, DC to Leo Francis Dornisch and Madelyn Morris Dornisch. He was predeceased by his parents and each of his beloved wives: Melba (Tilghman) Dornisch, Hilda (Kidwell) Dornisch, and Orpha (Willis) Dornisch. He is survived by his son Michael Jeffery Dornisch and his wife Wendy, his daughter Linda Dornisch Baker and her husband David, and his devoted partner, Phyllis Maier, who traveled the world with him over the past five years.
