Life story

"Shirley learned about Jehovah by sitting on the stairs as she listened to her mother Bible study at the age of 4. The sister saw her scurry away and the next time she came she asked if she would like her own study. Mom knew this was the truth at an early age even though she was raised in a divided household. Her father was a police officer and wanted his daughter to follow in his footsteps, teaching her to shoot a pistol until she proved to be a better shot then his buddies in the precinct. She was on the fast tract to the FBI but realized that as a witness she would not be allowed to carry a firearm and turn to nursing where she excelled. Her love of children motivated her to work for Monroe Developmental Center at night and somehow she also managed to pioneer instilling the love of pioneering to many of her children and bible students. Since both Shirley and her first husband came from families that cared for many foster children, they knew they wanted to have a large family also. A favorite memory of mine was the day, we would come home from school and there would be the CAP books, similar to the old Sears catalogs, but we were advise." It is time to pick out a new sibling" It was a family choice and after meeting the child they to got to vote to see if they want to stay. We only lost one brother, Rey, but we are still in contact. 12 can be a lot for some. But our parents motto was, there is always room for one more. So mom loves Jehovah, people, children, horseback riding, dancing, plays, musicals and anything family. She introduced us to the arts with the Broadway play of Peter Pan with Sandy Duncan, flying in the air and recently with Richard Thomas in To Kill a Mockingbird at the Kennedy Center and Mama Mia!So thankful for our hope and the reassurance that she is sleeping peacefully."
