" Melvin Louis Allen,
Sunrise Oct. 24, 1952-Sunset Nov. 19, 2024

Melvin Louis Allen was born in Charlottesville, Va and raised in Schuyler, Va. He worked 17 years for S.L. Williamson Paving Co. until he retired in 2019. He was called home to be with his Lord on the evening of Nov. 19, 2024. He went peacefully, surrounded by his wife and other family after a sudden illness.
Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Linwood L. Allen; his mother, Corrine Allen Hocker; and his sister, Earsline Dillard.
Melvin is survived by his wife and partner of 12 1/2 years, Sandra Allen; 2 children, and 3 step-children, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and uncles. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Allen and Anna Blakey; his brothers, James Allen and Sam Allen; his mother-in-law, Ruth Driggs; sister-in-law, Brenda McKeen; brothers-in-law, Earl Currier and Tim Currier; and 2 very special friends, Jay Clemons and Fannie Martin.
Melvin was a loving and devoted husband, brother, and friend. He was known by many for his kindness and his ability to make people smile. He made friends wherever he was.
