Life story
" Barbara Frances Lowery (Bobbi), a devoted spouse, a mother, and a dear friend and colleague. She was born on November 8, 1949, to Ella Frances Gentry Worrell and Earl M. Worrell in Alexandria Virginia.
As a child, Barbara grew up surrounded by many friends as she attended George Washington High School (GWHS), alongside her beloved brother Earl Worrell Jr. (Kenny). From there, she continued to pursue her education as she obtained a college degree for Skilled-Nursing at Virginia Medical School. Her academic achievement and intelligence were heightened as she graduated not only with high honors, but with the second highest score on her state exam. She dedicated herself to putting this knowledge to use as she spent forty-five years working in numerous skilled-nursing facilities such as hospitals, retirement homes, and many more.
Barbara was loved by many throughout her lifetime. She had two children with her previous spouse, James Edward Leasure Sr, which she named James Edward Leasure Jr. (Jimmy) and Tracie Michelle Leasure. Following her first marriage, she dedicated the rest of her lifetime with her soulmate of forty-three years, Daniel Louis Lowery (Dan).
On October 30, 2024 at age 75, she spent her final moments at her home in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she passed peacefully, after her hard-fought battle with cancer, surrounded by those who loved her. Barbara is preceded in her passing by her beloved soulmate Daniel Louis Lowery (Dan); two children, James Edward Leasure Jr. (Jimmy) and Tracie Michelle Perrill; a stepdaughter, Denise Amber Lowery; along with her only grandchild, Courtney Michelle Perrill; and her sister in law, Linda Mary (Lowery) Price.
Despite her passing, Barbara’s memories and virtues live on through each of us. We can remember her through each of the things that she loved most. She spent a thrilling forty-three years attending drag races alongside her husband who continues on to drive race cars. Additionally, she enjoyed spending her free time shopping, and had a keen-eye for house decor which she put to good use. She also had a natural interest in skincare health products, and would be a great advisor to anyone who’d listen. However, what we can all remember most is her dear love towards animals. She’d go out each morning to feed the birds in her backyard and always expressed her concern for any animal in danger. Her devoted kindness can be reflected through the numerous donations that she made, not only to Animal Society, but also towards other non-profit organizations such as St. Jude. The animal she loved most, her faithful pet Max, joins her in her journey onward. Barbara had many other passions as well such as politics. She would consider herself a strong and wholehearted republican; and you didn’t want to go head to head with her because she’d win every time.
The memorial gathering for Barbara’s passing will be held at a later date for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to her favorite charity St. Judes Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929. We would like to thank the Oncology Department of Fredericksburg for helping Barbara throughout her journey. Another special thank you to her primary nurse Chelsy and Teena from HomeCare Hospice for all of their help.
