Life story

"Laren James Schuster was born in Breckenridge Minnesota on December 4, 1965. He grew up in Mandan Bismarck area went to school at Mandan High School. He later received his GED at South Central. He then moved to Kentucky and worked as a contractor for various cable companies, including Time Warner cable, Crawford cable construction, and Derby city cable. He also worked construction building houses. He had a long relationship with Linda (Vittitoe), and on June 6, 1995 his daughter, Lauren hope Schuster was born. Although their relationship faded in time, he was very proud of Lauren and he carried her picture with him at all times.
Laren then spent some time in Kansas where he worked as a lineman but due to injuries while working wasn’t able to continue that line of work. He then found his way back up to North Dakota staying with his youngest sister, Ashley (Cermak) in Judson. When he pulled up she thought he was just visiting for the afternoon and he ended up staying there for the last 7 years. Laren was a big help while staying there, and he was great to his 2 nieces, Marley (Hoiby), Sabella (Hoiby) and one nephew, Brett “lil man” (Hoiby). He was known to get the best gifts for birthdays and Christmas. He would take them to the gas station or Dollar Store for a snack, he took them school shopping and even drove the 20 miles to McDonald’s just for a happy meal. The drive didn’t seem to bother him a bit, Laren loved his Cadillac. He liked to help mow the grass, or you’d find him somewhere outside on the porch or in a lawnchair posted up in the yard. He liked to give advice in friends garages or help with any car or motorcycle projects. In the winter months he kept the house toasty while Ashley was at work and I know we will miss hearing Bella say, “Uncle! Put another log on the fire!”
If Laren wasn’t at Ashley’s, you could find him real close by. He loved to fish at Sweetbriar Lake and you would find him there often with a pole in the water, country music on, and a Coors Light in his hand. He spent a lot of time there, camping and fishing. Because he spent so much of his last years at Sweetbriar, Ashley and her family has agreed upon spreading his ashes in his favorite spot at the lake. He will always be with us in our hearts, and on many more camping adventures there to come. Rest in Peace bro!
