Life story

"Sara, a devout Baptist, deeply loved the Lord and followed the Bible’s teachings in all walks of life. Her days began with participation in a prayer line with family. She was proud that her prayer line consisted of new as well as old friends including those dating back to her childhood days.

During her early years Sara worked at General Electric in Florence, South Carolina. After moving to Texas, she worked at Vought Aircraft until discovering her passion for working in retail. Sara worked at Foley’s until it was acquired by Macy’s for twenty years. She was a wonderful conversationalist and made many friends during her tenure due to her witty charm.

Sara loved spending summers at the beach on the Carolina coast. She was often the last to leave her beach post at dusk. Even after a long day at the shore she was always ready for a few rounds of putt putt golf with her grandsons.

She also loved to plant daffodil bulbs during fall so she could enjoy the blooms during spring. She would cut the flowers and proudly display them in vases around her home. Sara was also a wonderful cook. She was one of nine siblings so she enjoyed cooking for large family gatherings during the holidays.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Sara’s caregiver Patricia Rogers, neighbors Teresa and John Cooley as well close friends Ruthie Tezeno and Brenda Barlow for their care and support. "
