Life story

"Tommy was born August 22, 1937, in Dallas, Texas to Ben & Addy B Posey. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School and joined the Airforce after graduation where he proudly served his country in Okinawa.

Beginning in the 1960’s and thru the 1980’s, Tom was a Champion Boat Racer representing the OMC Team racing Johnson and Evinrude outboard boards across the globe including Lake Havasu, Panama, Paris and Amsterdam just to name a few. His dad, Ben traveled the world with him and shared this passion. These friendships (and stories!) lasted a lifetime and embodied Tom’s adventurous spirit.

Tom began his Real Estate career in the 1970’s alongside his brother, JC Posey in Plano Texas. Together they built one of the longest standing brokerage and lease management groups in the city. Tom was President of the Collin County Association of Realtors in 1978 and served in many other posts over the years. Tom was a dedicated contributor to the community through his participation as a founding member of Plano West Rotary and gladly dedicated his time to various service projects including his favorite which was the annual balloon festival.

Tom & Betty married in October of 1983 and created their beautiful, blended family beginning with Lisa Ann and Jamie DaNell who although were not sisters by birth, grew to be sisters of the heart. Lisa’s husband Matt, along with beloved grandkids Daniel, Emily (Russel), Bradley (Kelley), Jackson (Kerry) & 6 great grandkids completed the family that Tom led with great pride and joy over many meals “in the garage”.

In addition to his family, Tom had many passions including the Dallas Cowboys. He cheered for them faithfully alongside his longtime friends, Dottie and Niel Brown until the end which unfortunately was the terrible loss to the Saints on September 15th. He also loved his Tesla, popcorn, Coors Light and following his grandkid’s adventures which brought much more reliable joy.

Tom was a longtime member of Custer Road United Methodist Church and a believer of Christ. We know this isn’t goodbye but see you later.

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” – Revelation 21:4-5
