Life story

"Charles Dale Kern, affectionately known by loved ones as Charlie, Dale, and "Pop-Pop", was called to his eternal rest on the 27th of June in the year of our Lord 2024. At the age of seventy-six, his soul departed peacefully in the coastal town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Born on the 23rd of November, 1947, Charles/Dale was born in the city of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, and resided for a considerable time in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, before setting his sights on a tranquil retirement in Myrtle Beach, where he dearly loved living!

Charles passing is mourned by his beloved wife Cheryl Kern, sister Pat Oller of Hershey, Pennsylvania, brothers Richard Kern of York, Pennsylvania, Tom Elder of Florida, stepson Tony Zeranko of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, daughter Lori Landis of Pennsylvania and grandchildren Layne Zeranko who was the apple of "Pop-Pops” eye and Hendrix Zeranko.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Siverling and sister Betty Lorene Vafias.

Professionally, Charles was a proud union electrician with IBEW. His dedication to craftsmanship was only matched by his passion for his hobbies. He enjoyed his Cigar Shop Family, where he enjoyed a card game and his love for fine cigars.

His youth was marked by his zest for life, celebrated through many a ride upon his Harley Davidson. along with enjoying Hunting,
A die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Fan. Charles was known for his fervent loyalty and game day zeal.

A man of faith, Charles attended the Palmetto Pointe Church of God.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Charles will undoubtedly feel the absence of his spirited presence, but his spirit will live on through the memories cherished by his family and friends."
