Life story

" Eddie went straight from East Gaston High School to join the Navy. He loved traveling the world while in the Navy. He stated it was an experience he would never forget. Unfortunately, tragedy struck as the USS Iowa was inadvertently blown up in 1989, and 47 shipmates passed. Eddie had a tattoo on his arm with all of the deceased shipmates names forever memorialized. Eddie was married to Angie Branscom in 1995 and remained married for 10 years remaining friends until his death. Eddie worked as a metal fabricator , forklift driver, heavy equipment operator and a security officer. His hobbies included tinkering on any motors, performing any type of fabrication, collecting , shooting and modifying guns and personalizing his street bike and riding it in and around Wilmington, NC. He was a strong, brave and stubborn man with mischievous ways. He was very independent and could be a force to be reckoned with. He had a hard exterior that was hard to crack, but if you were in his circle, you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he had your back. He was a very proud man and will be missed by many family members and friends. He was fortunate in that his daughter Ashleigh was able to come visit from Oregon during the last week of his life. "
