Life story

"Milo Mitchell, raised in Topeka, Kansas. Joined the armed forces. Afterwards, he spent over 43 years working for the Santa Fe railroad. He joined Gregg Tabernacle AME church, serving on numerous boards there until his death. He was one of his church's oldest deacons. He was a devoted father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend to many. He never met a stranger. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Many admired that about him. He became well-known when he played with the Marling Hornets in the 1940's, and continued playing for many years. This landed him an inductee in the Kansas ABA Hall of Fame."
