Life story
"Karen Lynn George Hobgood died June 12, 2024 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was born on October 16, 1943 to Jack and Norma George in Cleveland, Ohio. The family later relocated to Annandale, Virginia, where Karen was a 1961 graduate of Annandale High School. After high school, Karen worked as a civilian clerical support employee at Fort McNair, the Old Executive Office Building in the Office of Emergency Preparedness, and at the Pentagon. She attended Ferrum College from 1961-1963, where she participated in and enjoyed intramural sports. Karen later earned her Series 7 and Series 63 securities broker licenses and went on to work as an investment broker with several companies in the greater Washington metropolitan area over her 40+ year career. She enjoyed travel, reading, classical art, keeping up with local and national politics and especially her dogs.
Karen is survived by her children, James Hobgood of Fredericksburg and Laura (Marc) Littlecott of Senatobia, Mississippi, one brother, Jack Roger George of Dothan, Alabama, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Norma George and her sister Linda George Davis.
For those who wish to honor Karen's memory, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare (BREW), your local animal shelter, or to the charity of your choice. "
