Bettye was an extraordinarily beautiful woman who even caught the attention of Cassius Clay, aka Muhammad "the greatest" of all time Ali. Her beautiful make-up, and "coke bottle" shape, distinguished her from others. As a young person, the Thomas family moved from Memphis, TN to Chicago, IL. Bettye worked many jobs, but her first job was at the local movie theater as a cashier. She quickly moved up to candy girl.

Bettye took the opportunity to travel when able, she went far North as Toronto Canada and as far West as Hawaii; often taking family members with her.
Bettye accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into her life at an early age. Her zeal for the Lord came a little later in life. She loved fellowshipping with her church family and effortlessly became a cornerstone of spiritual inspiration for her family and friends. She was a proud member of Living Word Christian Center, under the leadership of Drs. William and Veronica Winston. As a volunteer, she was a devoted Pen-Pal companion for those needing someone to talk to. She also committed herself to helping adults improve their reading skills. She absolutely enjoyed talking about the Lord with anyone who wanted to hear. Her daily devotion time with the Lord was her favorite pastimes.
The last few years of her life, Bettye was faced with some health challenges. Through it all, she kept her faith in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She actively participated in her family's weekly Bible study. always eager to continue developing her spiritual life. She was fully persuaded in God's unfailing love for her. This truth, among other things, is the powerful legacy she has left with all who knew and loved her. Both of her sons were there for her during this trying time, taking their respective roles in her care. She knew she was loved, up until the very end.
