Life story
" Mike Fisher, aged 55, passed away at home in Orange, VA on 5/23/2024. After overcoming Hodgkins lymphoma in his teens, it reemerged as lung cancer. We are thankful for every year given enjoying life.
Following graduation from The Ohio State University, he worked in the automotive collision industry. However, he was happiest laboring at home. Landscaping projects, tool maintenance or working out in his home gym were his preferred activities. He was an avid sports fan & had an amazing memory for facts. It is also important to note that he was the best dog dad ever to five Cardigan Corgis.
Preceded in death by his father, Leonard. Survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen. Also left behind are his mother, Ann; sister, Julie; brother-in-law Bryan; two nephews Jack & Matt; Uncle, Jerry; Aunt, Julie; & two cousins Martin and Jessica.
There will be no formal somber gathering in Virginia where he spent the last 9 years of life. Instead, a celebration of life will happen in Ohio where he spent the bulk of his life. Planning has begun for a gathering on Sept. 7th at Highbanks Park in Delaware, Ohio.
If you ever met Mike, you know humor was present every day of his life. He spent a lot of time in the hospital the past two years. But even in the ICU, he’d have the staff laughing.
In lieu of flowers, Mike welcomes memorial gifts to Central Virginia Horse Rescue where his wife volunteers. https://www.centralvahorserescue.org/mike-fisher
