Life story

"Larry Jack Sisco beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away in his sleep at home, June 24th 2022. Larry was the son of Jack and Ailene Sisco, raised after birth by his cousin Cissy Reed, of Rosiclare Illinois. Later moving to the Battle Creek area, he graduated from Gull Lake High School in 1966. Larry joined the United States Marine Corps in November of 1966. He served in Vietnam from April 1969 to March of 1970. While in Vietnam he served on the USS Kearsarge Aircraft Carrier in the Sea of Japan, working to establish reactionary force in response to the capture of the USS Pueblo. Larry\'s next duty assignment was in Quang Nam Province, Charlie Ridge, Arizona, and Hill 55 (30 miles from Laos, North Vietnam). Larry was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, The Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V, Meritorious Unit Accommodation, Good Conduct Medal, and Meritorious Promotion from Cpl to Sgt in 7 months. Upon his honorable discharge, Larry returned to Southern Illinois. He graduated from Southeastern Illinois College in 1972, and from Southern Illinois University in 1975, majoring in history. During his summer months between semesters, he worked for Otis Engineering on offshore drilling sites in the Gulf of Mexico. Later Larry moved to Battle Creek Michigan, enlisting in the Marine Corps Reserves. Larry worked for First National Bank, Ralston\'s, later retiring from Post Cereals in 2013. Surviving are his wife Carol (Hart), they were blessed with three amazing children: Laura Irene (Travis) Briggs, Lisa Andrea, and Joseph Brian (Ashley). Later came three precious grandchildren that were the light of his life: Grace Carolann 12, Eliza Ray 5, and Everett Jason 2. Special cousins Cissy Reed and Rita (Garry) Warren of Southern Illinois. Also, brother in-law and dear friend Brian Hart (Stephanie), David (Kathleen) Hart and Mike (Fe\') Jones, and many nieces and nephews. Special brother Phil (Gerry) Gagnon, and special sons Jimmy Holbert and Buddy Kincaid. Larry is survived by many other relatives, spanning from the tip of Kentucky, Southern Illinois, looping through Chicago, and back to Michigan. He was proceeded in death by brother Dennis (Noot and Jack) in 2006, and his trusted four-legged companion Lewis. Those who knew Larry, knew he was a proud patriot who loved his country. He was especially thankful for the men and women of our military, police, and EMT for their service. When his health declined, he received excellent care from the Veterans hospital in Battle Creek. There have been many kind people who have helped Larry and his family along the way. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice. In lieu of flowers, please consider helping, or paying it forward to others. After burial the family would like to invite family and friends to Millers Time Out to share memories and laughs. His demons are now gone, and he is one of many guarding the gates of heaven…his last duty station. Semper Fidelis.
