Life story

"ROCK FALLS – John A. Bertolozzi, 92 of Rock Falls died Sunday February 21, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 22, 1928 in Rock Falls the son of Edmundo and Eleonora (Bertorelli) Bertolozzi. He was a 1947 graduate of Rock Falls High School and served in the US Army for three years. He had worked at International Harvester and Northwestern Steel and Wire. John attended Barber school in 1965 in Chicago. He began barbering in Rock Falls in 1969 in his own shop and retired in 1993. He married Irma (Lansford) Devers on July 1, 1970 and recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He is survived by his wife Irma; and their children: Carolyn Jo (Rick) Long of Rock Falls, Tony (Lori) Bertolozzi of Prophetstown, Bill (Petra) Bertolozzi of Savannah, GA, Bob (Rhonda) Devers of Sterling and Linda (Gene) Holmberg of Bettendorf, IA; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Gayle L. Ricklefs and son James A. Bertolozzi. Visitation for the public will be held on Wednesday February 24, 2021 from 11 – 12noon at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. Private family services will follow. Burial will conclude at Coloma Township Cemetery.
